Nubiotic-SP (Neomycin Soluble Powder)

Neomycin is a broad spectrum antibiotic belonging to the aminoglycosides group with a bactericidal action.

Neomycin is active against various gram negative bacteria and against several gram positive bacteria e.g. Staphylococcus spp. Neomycin disturbs the bacterial protein synthesis by its action on the ribosomes.

Neomycin by oral administration is a very convenient and safe way of treating enteric infections due to gram-negative organisms.

Pharmacokinetics:

After oral administration, Neomycin is not absorbed or very poorly absorbed
(to the extent of about 3%) from the gastrointestinal tract. Most of the drug is mainly excreted unchanged in the faeces.

Indications:

The use of Neomycin is indicated in bacterial enteritis caused by gram negative bacteria.

Poultry : Bacterial Enteritis commonly caused by E.Coli, Salmonellosis, Colibacillosis and Staphylococcal infections.
Sheep and Goats:Enterotoxaemia of Lamb, Bloody Dysentery – Bacterial Enteritis.
Calves: E. Coli – Enterotoxicosis, Salmonellosis, Scours and White Scours.
Horse: Vibrionic Dysentery
Swine: Diarrhoea, Salmonellosis, Colibacillosis, and Leptospirosis.

Composition:

Each gram contains:
Neomycin Sulphate I.P. …. 20% W/W in water soluble base.

Dosage:
Poultry

Water:

Day Old to 5 weeks: 1 gram in 5 to 7 litres of water
6 weeks and above: 1 gram in 5 litres of water
Breeders: 1 gram in 2-3 litres of water

Feed:

20 to 25 grams of Nubiotic-SP to be mixed in 100 kg of feed. Double the dose is recommended for breeders.

Cattle, Calf, Sheep, Goat and Horses:

50 to 75 mg of Nubiotic-SP per kg body weight as a drench or through the feed.
