Water is an important nutrient and helps promote poultry immune status and gut health. Right water management ensures higher productivity.
Follow the 3 Mantras for best output:
- Avoid Biofilms
Effective sanitization program and flushing the lines with clean water will help to break up and remove the biofilm. Also it prevents any growth of E.Coli.
Barn cleaning to be done while the flock is inside with clean water and mild sanitizer. The same is to be repeated when the flock leaves the barn and again before the next flock comes in.
- Ensure Working Equipment
Ensure equipment’s are free from any biofilms. The uneven height of a water line to be avoided as it causes air blockage and prevent birds from accessing water.
Any wear and tear on the drinkers or scale/rust can cause leaky nipple drinkers resulting in water getting everywhere except the bird’s mouth leading to negative impact on performance.
- Ensure good access to Water
Arrange for appropriate water line height as per the size of birds to have good flock health and performance.
Water is used to add various additives; in the course it is important to ensure that the water is free from any adulterant.
